Bundesbank president Weidmann has also recently stressed that there are no reasons for German concern about inflation. The public debate about European monetary policy, however, has become more heated in Germany. This debate is harmful; it seems that the criticism is often based on the experience of the Bundesbank&#8217;s failure to recognise the different conditions of monetary policy in a monetary union, but it is also wrong to think the European crisis is over.
