HSBC, the world\u2019s fifth-largest bank, failed to review thousands of internal anti-money-laundering alerts, according to a Reuters investigation published last week.<\/p>\n<p>The bank did not file legally required \u201csuspicious activity reports\u201d to U.S. law enforcement officials. It hired \u201cgullible, poorly trained, and otherwise incompetent personnel\u201d to run its anti-money-laundering effort.
