This was offset by some narrowing in the United States and the euro area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As our latest&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imf.org\/en\/publications\/esr\/issues\/2026\/07\/30\/external-sector-report-2026?cid=bl-com-ESREA2026001\">External Sector Report<\/a>&nbsp;shows, China\u2019s current account surplus increased by about $300 billion last year, the largest widening in absolute terms since at least 2000, to about 0.6 percent of world GDP.
