First, these technologies rely on a functioning and reliable supporting infrastructure to function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The last power cut we had locally shut down a whole town\u2019s ability to process any form of non-cash based exchange (a boon for small shops with numerate assistants). Second, should my mobile phone be \u2018McSweeneyed\u2019 by some ne\u2019er-do-well, as apparently happened to Morgan McSweeney, Sir Keir Starmer\u2019s former chief of staff, I have lost my means of payment, the ability to report the loss and face what is probably a significant delay in finding a replacement (assuming, of course, I have employed appropriate backup strategies).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let us not rush headlong into relying so absolutely on a system that has so many significant Achilles\u2019 Heels.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
